Raw Honey Praline Bites w/ Chocolate Drizzle

Makes about 9 bites

Ingredients:

BITES

6 oz raw pecans

2 oz shredded coconut

7 oz pitted dates

2 oz Wedderspoon Beechwood Honey

pinch of salt

pinch of vanilla powder

CHOC DRIZZLE

1 oz coconut oil, gently melted

.5 oz Wedderspoon Beechwood Honey

.5 oz raw cacao powder

pinch of salt

Toppings: pecans, coconut flakes, cacao nibs…

Directions:

  1. Pulse pecans, coconut, salt, and vanilla in food processor until very fine
  2. Add dates and honey, pulse until dough forms. Taste! A little salt is good in this recipe as it brings out the toffee flavours in the pecans, dates, and honey.
  3. Press dough in pan. We used a 3×3 square lined with parchment for easy removal
  4. Allow to set in freezer for one hour
  5. Mix melted oil, honey, salt and cacao to make the drizzle
  6. Remove bites from freezer, cut into desired pieces, then drizzle chocolate; we also garnished ours with whole pecans
  7. Keep in fridge up to a week or store in freezer if they last that long!

Showing Some Lozenge Love This Winter

Lozenges with copper 1

As much as it pains me to say it, winter is still upon us! Though I’ve been particularly healthy and sickness-free this season (thank you garlic and honey drink!) I still find that the dry, harsh air does a number on my throat, especially at night. To combat the drying effects of cold winter air and soothe my scratchy throat, I consistently reach for my Wedderspoon Organic lozenges. These tasty and effective lozenges are made with all simple, natural and authentic ingredients to help calm and relieve your throat troubles! They come in three distinct and delicious flavors and at 15% off, you can afford to try them all! See below for standout ingredient details and a link to shop.

Lozenges with Eucalyptus and Bee Propolis

Organic manuka honey is full of antioxidants and naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and active enzymes. Our pure, raw manuka honey is a therapeutic superfood!

Eucalyptus oil is an anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, antiseptic, antibacterial and stimulating. It is also effective against cavities, dental plaque, gingivitis and other dental infections owing to its germicidal properties.

Menthol crystals are used not only for their refreshing flavor but also to combat bad breath and can be used in mouthwash and toothpaste.

Bee propolis (translation: “Propolis, Pro-before, Polis-city = defense of the city), is the resinous substance that bees gather from the leaf buds of trees and certain vegetables. The bee gathers this and transforms it in order to disinfect the beehive, seal cracks, build panels, as well as using it as a microbiocidal agent, disinfectant and also for embalming intruders otherwise difficult to expel due to their size. Propolis is responsible for guaranteeing the asepsis of the beehives, locations prone to developing viruses and bacteria, given their conditions of temperature and humidity…Propolis is well-known and used for its therapeutic properties, principally for its stimulant action on the organism’s defense system. Notable amongst its properties are its antioxidant and anti-microbial action, its activity as a stimulant and its healing, analgesic, anesthetic and anti-inflammatory activity.”

Organic Manuka Lozenges with Ginger and Echinacea

Organic manuka (see above)

Ground ginger is rich in antioxidants including gingerols, shogaols, zingerones, and more. Ginger also has broad-spectrum antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-parasitic properties, to name just a few!

Echinacea is a special herb that encourages the immune system and reduces many of the symptoms of colds, flu and some other illnesses, infections and conditions.

Natural lemon flavor is high in vitamin C and other antioxidants and can help the immune system battle germs. Also, maintaining a healthy diet high in fruits and vegetables is especially important during the winter months when physical activity levels tend to drop.

Organic Thyme Lozenges with Fennel and Cinnamon

Organic Thyme honey is renowned as a valuable source of antioxidants and powerful broad spectrum healing properties.

Ground Fennel seeds have many health benefiting nutrients, essential compounds, antioxidants, dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins. Fennel seeds contain numerous flavonoid anti-oxidants like kaempferol and quercetin. These compounds function as powerful anti-oxidants by removing harmful free radicals from the body.

Ground cinnamon is an antioxidant and antimicrobial. In addition to this, cinnamon has been found to be an anti-inflammatory and to fight infections in the body!

All of our lozenges are free of:

Soy, nut, dairy, egg, gluten, wheat, barley, rye, sulphites and GMOs.
